Utilizing the standard HTML tags there is the ability to apply a considerable number of attributes to text within a world wide web document. Very similar to the attributes and format that you would use in a standard word processing package.
You can set the size and colour of text. You can bold, underline and itallicise text. You can also apply tags to text to emphaise headings and last but not least you can make you text blink. You can also set the font style eg. Arial, so long as the font is loaded on the local PC. The document author also has the ability to give several options for different font styles to accomodate a wide range of computers and operating systems.
You can also format the text into paragraphs or force text onto a new line. You can produce numbered or un-ordered lists.
Most browsers are set to read the text formating set by the author, but the viewer has the ability to over-ride these settings by changing the configuartion of their browser.
